2021 Lexus IS Prices, Reviews, and Pictures


The 2021 Lexus IS’s aggressive exterior will make it stand out from other sports-sedans. It has sharply creased sheetmetal, furrowed headlamps and furrowed headlamps. This redesigned model, which is not entirely new, has a bold design and provides a smooth driving experience. Lexus made this model to compete with the Audi A4, BMW 3-series and the Genesis G70. The IS can be had with either a turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a gutsier V-6, the latter available with performance-enhancing features provides more fun for driving enthusiasts and puts the IS back in the hunt among its sprightlier rivals. The interior is well-designed and comfortable for both driver and passenger. However, the cabin has a tighter space than other entry-luxury cars.

What’s new for 2021?

The refreshed IS will roll into 2021 with updated interior styling and exterior styling, improved driving dynamics, enhanced driver-assistance features and a modernized infotainment. In 2022, a racier IS500 powered by a V-8 engine of 5.0-liters will be added to the IS lineup.

Pricing and Which One To Buy

The IS350 F Sport full-monty with rear-wheel drive is our recommendation. The F Sport package offers more aggressive exterior styling. It also includes 19-inch wheels with larger rear tires, an F Sport exhaust and heat-and-ventilation sport seats. The optional Dynamic handling package, which includes an adaptive suspension system, is also available.

Engine, Transmission, & Performance

The 2021 IS retains the same engine options as the 2020 model. They include a turbocharged 241-hp turbocharged four-cylinder in IS300 and an IS350-hp V-6. The four-cylinder was not a favorite in our previous IS300 tests. Its dull personality is not well balanced with the car’s athletic chassis. The IS shines when the V-6 is ordered. For 2021, it will be the only way to access the F Sport model. This includes many performance upgrades like a limited-slip rear differential and staggered 19 inch wheels. An optional adaptive suspension can also be added. Rear-wheel-drive IS350 F Sport was tested and recorded a quick 5.6 second zero-to-60-mph speed, which is not bad for such a fast class.

Fuel Economy Real World MPG

The EPA has rated the four-cylinder, rear wheel drive IS300 model as the most efficient IS. It boasts fuel economy estimates of 21 mpg in city and 31 mpg on highway. The V-6 IS350 V-6 engine is rated at as high as 28 MPG highway and as low to 19 MPG city. On our 200-mile highway fuel economy test route, we measured the all-wheel-drive IS350 at 30 mpg.

Interior, Comfort, & Cargo

Although the IS is not as spacious and luxurious as Lexus’ flagship LS sedans, it still provides a premium experience. The standard features include power front seats, dual zone automatic climate control, push-button start, and push-button starting. An optional power sunroof, leather upholstery, and a power moonroof are also available. The cabin has undergone minimal changes, but a keen eye will spot relocated cupholders and round air vents at the door panels. There’s also a new infotainment system located closer to the dashboard. The interior space of the IS will remain the same as the 2020 model. This means that cargo and family members won’t have much space.

Infotainment & Connectivity

Standard equipment includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen and a console-mounted touchpad. An optional larger 10.3-inch display can be added to the package with in-dash navigation. Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included in either system. Amazon Alexa integration is also available. A Mark Levinson premium stereo system with 17 speakers and 1800 watts is also available, just like the IS.
